Description:    Many years ago, the people of Sicily were afflicted by a drought. They prayed for the intercession of St. Joseph to bring rain, and when the drought broke, they erected altars to St. Joseph in celebration. To this day, St. joseph's Tables are set in March and blessed on St. Joseph's Day. The food is given to the poor.

For the past ten years, it has been our custom to give a St. Joseph's Table each year at Epiphany Church. We will set our Table on March 11, and it will be blessed at the 8 AM Mass on St. Joseph's Day. It will be avaialable for prayer and viewing whenever the church is open March 11-19th. We invite all to bring non-perishable food to decorate the altar, the food will be distributed to the poor on March 20th. If you want to bring a group, I would be happy to meet with them and explain the significance of the Table and St. Joseph as protector of the poor. St. Joseph's bread will be distributed after Mass.

If you can't be here in person, be here in spirit, and join us in prayer as we "picket St. Joseph", asking his intercession on behalf of all those who suffer in this world.

Prayer for the blessing of a St. Joseph's Table: Today we honor the memory of Saint Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary and patron of the universal Church. We rejoice at this table, which is a sign of God's generous blessings and of our call to serve the poor and hungry. We pray that through the intercession of Saint Joseph we too might join the saints at the banquet of the Lord in the heavenly kingdom. . .

All-provident God, the good things that grace this table remind us of your many good gifts. Bless this food, and may the prayers of Saint Joseph, who provided bread for your Son and food for the poor, sustain us and all our brothers and sisters on our journey towards your heavenly kingdom.
